Our three plant locations at Westhoughton, Middleton and Waterfoot ensure that we can provide second to none coverage across the North West. With our optional AM and PM daily delivery slots, we offer maximum flexibility and ensure that mortar is delivered on site when you need it.

With a precise blend of constituents, our RTU mortar ensures reproducibility throughout your build program.
We also offer a large selection of coloured mortar shades on request. Each colour can be tailored to suit, providing light, mid and dark shades of each variant.
RTU Vs Dry Silo Mortar
It is all too common to see larger scale developments specify DSM silos and although they do have their place in the industry, they don’t always ensure the most cost-effective or efficient option.
Before a silo arrives on site, you have to factor in additional costs such as a suitable concrete slab to support the weight of the silo and the associated utilities for water and electricity feeds. If a slab has been installed you also have to deal with breaking this up at the end of the job.
It is reasonable to assume that breakdowns will occur due to failed parts, incorrect cleaning procedures or general wear and tear which ultimately have a knock on effect to your build program.
If silo levels aren’t monitored correctly, you will often find yourself suddenly out of material on site. Silo top-ups might take longer than expected to arrive. Without accurate measurement of remaining material in the silo, when it comes to top-ups, you will likely accrue returned material charges if any errors are made. Should you hit delays or are on a slow build program, you will also run the risk of being hit with no-through put material charges if silo top-ups aren’t ordered within a certain period.
With RTU mortar, our flexible deliveries and consistent batches ensure that you will never run out of material on site and that material wastage is kept to a minimum.
Supplied straight to tubs, RTU mortar promotes a cleaner working environment and removes the onus from the site manager of ensuring that material does not run out.
Safety on site
All our of professional drivers are trained in site safety. All hold MPQC (mineral product qualifications council) and all hold Driver CPC and are equipped with appropriate PPE.
Our vehicles are equipped with flashing beacons and strobe lights, reversing warning sounds, and reversing cameras. All our drivers are trained through our in-house driving school to safely and professionally operate concrete mixers.

Wash off trays
At Mark Bates & Sons Ltd we try to go the extra mile. All our new trucks have been built with the “away wash” system to provide our drivers with a no hassle wash off facility. So no matter where we deliver, we can minimise our need to wash off on site. Not only that, but all the waste, including water, is recycled and used back at the concrete plant.

To keep you updated with your order we utilise modern vehicle tracking. This allows us to keep up-to-date with all our vehicle locations, and also be as efficient as we can with our fleet.
Independent with a back-up plant
We are an independently run concrete supplier with over 25 years of industry experience, which helps us to understand our customers needs. We have recently added a new plant to the business, which doubles as a back-up plant to the Middleton plant. We have a new on site workshop to minimise the down time of our trucks.
Modern IT system
Both plants operate through a bespoke ordering system. This allows both plants to operate as smooth as possible.

On-site workshop
At Mark Bates & Sons Limited we also have our own fully-equipped workshop to maintain our fleet.
This enables us to keep our trucks in top condition, regularly serviced, and clean. Most of all, we can also minimise any unnecessary downtime to ensure our fleet is available at all times.
